Apply for a Kenyan National ID at the Embassy in Berlin. Applications are by appointment only, with in-person biometric capture; requirements differ for first-time applications, replacements, and changes of particulars.

Kenya recognises dual citizenship. Section 8(3) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, 2011 requires every dual citizen to disclose their other citizenship within three months of acquiring it. The Embassy assists with dual citizenship registration, regaining citizenship, and voluntary renunciation.

• Dual citizenship: notarised Form 3 and Oath of Allegiance, Kenyan passport/ID/birth certificate, German citizenship certificate translated to English — apply online at fns.immigration.go.ke; processing fee Kshs. 20,050 plus a Kshs. 10,050 issuance fee on approval
• Regaining Kenyan citizenship (for those who lost it before 27 August 2010): Form 1, Oath of Allegiance, a Police Clearance Certificate; processing fee Kshs. 20,050 plus a Kshs. 50,050 issuance fee
• Voluntary renunciation: online application via fns.immigration.go.ke (Form 6), proof of the new citizenship, original Kenyan passport and ID

• Failure to disclose dual citizenship within 3 months can attract a fine of up to KSh 5 million, up to 3 years' imprisonment, or both

Often required for employment, study or residency applications. Fingerprints are taken by a police authority in Germany (or your country of residence) on Form C.24 — the Embassy does not capture fingerprints itself for this service.

Required by German, Polish and Czech civil registries before a Kenyan citizen can marry abroad. The Kenya Constitution does not recognise same-sex unions, so certificates cannot be issued for such unions.

• Two sets of: notarised Affidavit of Single Status, Form MA5, certified copies of the Kenyan applicant's passport and birth certificate, and certified copies of the fiancé(e)'s passport
• For divorced or widowed applicants: certified copies of the divorce decree or late spouse's death certificate (German original plus English translation)

The Mission's emergency line supports citizens facing hardship abroad — arrest, detention, hospitalisation, destitution or bereavement — outside office hours.

Authentication of Kenyan public documents for use abroad, such as academic, commercial and civil documents.

• Original document to be legalised plus a photocopy, a valid Kenyan passport or ID, and proof of residence
• The Embassy verifies the document's authenticity with the relevant Kenyan authorities before legalising it with an official stamp and signature
• Processing takes approximately 5 to 7 working days, depending on the volume of applications

Guidance and a No Objection Letter for families repatriating a deceased Kenyan citizen's remains, issued to the next of kin for confidentiality.

• Proof the deceased was a Kenyan citizen (passport or ID), the German death certificate, and a signed, stamped letter from the funeral directors confirming embalming meets ICAO international air transport guidelines

• Identification details (name, date and place of birth) must match exactly across the death certificate and other documents to avoid delays

Support for travellers bringing pets into Kenya, per Directorate of Veterinary Services requirements. The licence is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

• A written request letter, a copy of the Pet Passport or Export Health Certificate, and proof of up-to-date rabies and other vaccinations
